Measure Me Please

Accurate measurements are essential when selecting the right size to order.

In addition to the primary measurements below, it is also beneficial to consider the breed and body type of your dog. Different breeds have unique physical characteristics that may affect the fit of clothing. For instance, a Dachshund has a longer body relative to its legs, while a Bulldog has a broader chest. Understanding these nuances can aid in selecting the right size and style for your pet.

We try to give as much guidance as possible on these pages - however if in doubt email or send a message and we will help.

Proper fitting ensures comfort, mobility, and effectiveness of the clothing, particularly in varying weather conditions. This guide outlines the key measurements needed to ensure a suitable fit for your dog's apparel.

To begin, gather the necessary tools: a flexible measuring tape, a pen, and paper to record the measurements. It is advisable to measure your dog while they are standing, as this position provides the most accurate dimensions.

The first and most important measurement is the back length (A). To obtain this measurement, start at the base of your dog's neck (where the neck meets the back) and measure straight down to the base of the tail. This length will help determine the appropriate size of the clothing, ensuring it covers the necessary area without being too long or short. If you take only one measurement take this one.

Next, measure the chest circumference. (B) This measurement is taken around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs. Again, ensure the tape is snug but not constricting. This measurement is crucial for ensuring that the apparel fits comfortably around the dog's body.

The next measurement to take is the neck circumference (C). Wrap the measuring tape around the base of your dog's neck, where a collar would typically sit. Ensure that the tape is snug but not too tight, allowing for a comfortable fit. Record this measurement in inches or centimeters.

If in doubt - ask, we will be delighted to help.
